I want to introduce a wooden plate. The material is chestnut. On the plate, as you see, there are grapes and two pears. An old lady aged 90, who I became a friend recently, grew them. She brought them a few days ago. I almost lost words when she brought them. She comes to her garden every morning from her house on hoot 1 km away with ups and downs. And she looks so happy to share some of her fruits with us! I just appreciate it. And they are so sweet. Well I wanted to show one of my works though...
It was very early in the morning of last autumn that I found bats flying over my garden. Ten or more of them flying in a speed, just so quietly. It was nearly dawn but still dark. When I wove my hand they came very close. And suddenly they disappeared. Then birds stated to chirp. This year I saw them again, in the evening and early in the morning. I guess they are sleeping in gaps of such a stone wall. I don't think there is any other place to hide themselves and sleep. I climb up to that wall often to pick up walnuts. Every time I feel a little bit exited. They may be sleeping only 50cm away from me!
I wrote about another exhibition. It starts on the 4th of Oct. The photograph below is the notice of it.
4th of Oct. ~ 10th. At Ogikubo GINKA.
I took a photo of persimmons which are turning from green to yellowish orange. They are not big enough like you see in supermarket. Very small. After I moved here 3 years ago, I started to gather persimmons, because a big bough was spreading over my workshop's roof. But they are not sweet. They are astringent. To make them sweet, put them in a plastic bag, spray alcohol and leave them for 1~ 2 nights. I tried it. It worked well.
Have I explained the reason why I'm this much into gardening? As I'm working on wood, I'm thinking of new idea all the time. Often my tiny brain seems to burst next moment. For such a life working in the garden, touching soil seems to be an incredible help to me. It's as if earthing the electricity from inside. Difficult to put in words though...
I want to show a bookstand. It shows something like a human on one side, on the other side it shows something like a flame burning up.
